Peer Mentors for ENGR100.910: Socially-Engaged Design of Nuclear Energy Technologies

Pay Rate: $15/hr or for credit as ENGR 256 Peer Mentorship in Engineering Design (1-2 credits)

This position will span the duration of Fall 2023. The work during Fall 2023 will include some instructional support for a new ENGR 100 section (Socially Engaged Design of Nuclear Energy Technologies)
Description
We seek 5-10 students to serve as peer mentors for ENGR 100 910, a design-build-test course required of first-year engineering students.
The course centers on nuclear energy and socially-engaged design. Students will also use XR technologies to learn the basics of fission & fusion technologies and engage community members in a nuclear energy facility project hypothetically sited in Ann Arbor. In this peer mentor role, mentors would support students in the class/Visualization Studio (Fridays from 11:30-1:30 and/or 1:30-3:30). Some additional flexibility to meet with students at other times during the week as needed is required. Required Qualifications

- Completed introductory NERS coursework
OR - Experience working with XR technologies such as VR headsets (Oculus, Meta, Vive, Varjo)
